What a truck pays per kilometre (in Austria the GO-Maut, the distance-based truck toll), who pays and who is exempt – from the Austrian Mauttarifverordnung (Toll Rate Ordinance) and the German Bundesfernstraßenmautgesetz (Federal Trunk Road Toll Act).

Austria: Cat. 4 (four or more axles), outside the section toll segments and the A 12. Germany: over 18 t, 5 axles or more. Calculated for a round distance in kilometres; tolls are charged per toll section.

Austria: GO-Maut and vignette

  • Over 3.5 t technically permissible maximum laden mass: GO-Maut per kilometre, by axles, EURO and CO₂ emission class (BStMG §§ 6 and 9).
  • Up to 3.5 t: vignette. From digital only (BStMG § 11 Abs. 2).
  • Annual vignette 2026 for motor vehicles up to 3.5 t: €106.80.
  • Without proof of the emission classes, the highest rate applies (BStMG § 9 Abs. 10).

Germany: truck toll

  • Over 3.5 t in road haulage, on federal motorways and federal highways (BFStrMG § 1).
  • Toll rate per kilometre: sum of infrastructure, air pollution, noise and CO₂ (§ 3, Anlage 1).
  • Zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles are exempt until ; also buses, authorities, road maintenance services and others (§ 1 Abs. 2).
