Daily check
Every night an automatic run retrieves every source. It checks whether the source can be reached, whether the sentences on which our information is based are still there word for word and, for legal texts from the RIS, whether the cited version is still in force. If a check fails, we do not show the affected information, state when we last read the source and refer to the official source – until the editorial team has checked the change. If a source merely cannot be reached, our last confirmation remains valid for at most 14 days. Below each box it says when its source was last confirmed (‘checked on’).
Last automatic check: , ; all 39 sources confirmed.
How we calculate
- All times are Vienna local time; Austria and Germany follow the same time-zone rule. The change to winter time (, a day with 25 hours) is taken into account.
- ‘Today’ changes at . The status is calculated on the server each time a page is opened and recalculated in the browser every 15 seconds.
- Public holidays in Austria under the Feiertagsruhegesetz 1957 (Austrian public holidays act), in Germany under StVO § 30 Abs. 4; we calculate movable holidays from Easter Sunday. We show public holidays of individual German federal states together with the states in which they apply.
- A ban that starts within the next 24 hours is marked as announced (ring instead of disc). Colour is never used on its own: every status has a symbol and text.
- Dosierung (truck dosing at Kufstein): only the planned dosing days in the dosing calendar. Ungeplante Dosierungen (unplanned dosing) are not known in advance and are not included here.
- If a source does not cover today – for example when a calendar ends – we show nothing about it rather than presenting a gap as ‘no ban’.
- Diesel: weekly average from the EU Weekly Oil Bulletin including taxes, not a pump price; shown as long as the last reference date is no more than 14 days ago. Converted from € per 1,000 litres to € per litre.
- We list exceptions with their legal reference, not in full. Not shown are the exceptions under StVO § 30 Abs. 3 and exemption permits of the German federal states, and in Austria the exceptions under StVO 1960 § 42 Abs. 2a to 3 and driving bans under § 42 Abs. 5.
