On Sat 11/12 and Sat 18/12 (the last two Saturdays before 24 December), journeys within built-up areas are exempt from the weekend driving ban (StVO 1960 § 42 Abs. 3).

Route-specific driving bans (Fahrverbotskalender, the driving ban calendar; Lueg Bridge; A 10) for 2027 have not yet been published. This page is therefore not yet complete.

Exceptions (selection)

Transport of fresh food: fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy products, meat, fish, eggs, mushrooms, bakery and confectionery products, fresh herbs, ready-to-eat meals – with consignment note or loading list; plus the related empty and return journeys (Abs. 3a).
Animals for slaughter, mail, periodicals, supply of drinks in excursion areas (Abs. 3).
Urgent repairs to refrigeration, water and energy installations, sewer damage, towing services, breakdown service, disaster operations, road maintenance authorities, refuse collection (Abs. 3).
Combined transport within 65 km of the designated railway stations and ports, and journeys to and from airports (Abs. 2a).
Journeys within built-up areas on the last two Saturdays before 24 December (Abs. 3).

Full list in StVO 1960 § 42. The night-time driving ban (Abs. 6) has its own exceptions: road maintenance services, essential journeys of the Austrian Armed Forces, low-noise vehicles with confirmation under § 8b Abs. 4 KDV 1967.
